A hospital map that is changing right now
SageWest Health Care runs one hospital across two campuses in Lander and Riverton, both designated Community Trauma Hospitals. Riverton Medical District broke ground in December 2024 on a locally owned hospital with 13 inpatient beds and roughly 140 staff, affiliated with Billings Clinic and targeted to open in late 2026.
A new hospital changes networks, and networks change which plan is right. We track it and we check every plan against what is actually open when your renewal lands.
Health care and education carry the county
Fremont County employs about 17,567 people. Health care and social assistance leads at roughly 2,810, followed by education at 2,261 and retail at 1,922.
